Dirty Doggy - Scruffy Chops Review

By 12:25 , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

"Oh you dirty, dirty dog", I probably catch myself saying this EVERY single time I let my dog out in the garden for his toilet break.

Left : Mochi
Right : Bailey

Dog's just love to be outside and they bring in all kinds of dirt, leaves, mud... even poop stains, that's probably the most irritating one. I get a headache every time I see him roll around on the grass, even if it is dry, but it's how dog's have fun, so we can't blame them.

I've always wanted a pomeranian and when my Auntie got hers (Bailey), I asked the exact same breeder if they had any left... I also checked online and it actually said the breeder had none left, but I called them and they had one male puppy left, so we went to get him straight away. It was my dream come true!

Pomeranian's have this smooth puppy fur that should last them their whole lives, but they go through the "Ugly Puppy" stage, this is the "medical" term for it. 80% of Pomeranians will have 2 separate furs, their puppy fur and their adult fur, during the transition they go through that Ugly Puppy Stage which to be honest, IS ugly.

These photos were taken literally just as the two puppies hit their ugly stage and as they are from the same litter, they pretty much hit it at the same time. It basically meant that they would shed quite a lot of fur leaving them quite scraggly and they looked unhealthy, but it's all part of a healthy process!
Both puppies hit their ugly stage at around half a year old which was last summer and it wasn't difficult to deal with, but it was just odd, very odd.
I wouldn't say it is hard to maintain their fur now, they both look and feel gorgeous with the adult fur which is great, but during the summer months, they do still moult a little. I bought Mochi some dog shampoo from the local and bigger chains of pet stores but I have never really been amazed by what I have received. To be honest, they were just shampoo... It cleaned him and that was it... UNTIL....

Left : MUDDY MARVELOUS - Dead sea mud conditioner 250ml
Right : SUGAR DOGGY - Brown sugar natural mineral shampoo 250ml

This arrived in the post from SCRUFFY CHOPS... they are a doggy spa range with natural mineral products, they don't just target the dirt on the dog's fur, they help to soothe the dog's skin and since I have been using this on Mochi we don't get lumps of fur lying around on the floor from when he scratches himself.
SCRUFFY CHOPS sent me these 2 for Mochi to try, a shampoo and a conditioner.

I was pleasantly surprised on opening the package as I was expecting some boring bottle of shampoo that maybe had a nice scent to it or something, but when I saw the packaging of the actual product, I think the first word I muttered was probably "AWWWH"...

SUGAR DOGGY - ingredients:
Dog Shampoo:Aqua, Lauryl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, AloeBarbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Avina Sativa (Oatmeal) Extract*, Maris(Dead Sea) Sal, Xanthum Gum, Panthenol, Tocopherol, Glyceryl Oleate, StearylCitrate, Parfum (allergen free), Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA,Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Magnesium Nitrate,Magnesium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Coco Glucoside. *Organic

The shampoo's consistency is perfect and the smell, well I can't smell this one so much as the conditioner, but after seeing they are both natural and organic, I didn't care about the scent it gave off.
I have always believed that dogs are like babies, you can't use your normal every day shampoo on them as they are more fragile than we are etc...
Mochi was actually quite excited when he saw the shampoo as he gets curious when something is new about him, so I let him sniff it for a bit before I bathed him.

 MUDDY MARVELLOUS - ingredients:
Dog Conditioner: Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, AloeBarbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Avina Sativa (Oatmeal) Extract*, Maris(Dead Sea) Sal, Maris (Dead Sea) Limus, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*,Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Cetrimonium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate,Parfum (allergen free), Citric Acid. *Organic

The conditioner has got to be my favourite, that smell is like a candy floss/bubblegum/bonbons/candy stick kind of smell, I took one whiff of it and this is going to sound cheesy, it gave me childhood memories!
I was so pleased with the consistency with both, I get annoyed when the shampoo is hard to get out the bottle as dogs aren't always the best in the bath, you have to seize the opportunity when washing them, otherwise they'll wash you! Both the shampoo and conditioner help to get rid of that itchiness on the dog's skin and help protect it, its just like our nourishing, moisturising shower gels or whatever, I guess if we need them, why should we refuse our dogs from having them.

I haven't yet seen these in shops, but I know you can get them directly from the website, so I shall leave the details at the bottom of the post if you are interested!

I was very happy with both the products and I wouldn't mind trying more, but we'll have to finish these off first, they smell so sweet and nice I can't waste them!

Mochi is definitely a much happier dog after using these, I hope these products will continue to give the great results they have done during this week... It's winter time and the dog does get a lot of time outside... and the mud and dirt is getting more time inside my house, so this product came perfectly in time for me.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Scruffy Chops for sending me these products, I'm very happy with them and can't wait to try more of your products again!
