Beauty - Skincare Routine
I know a lot of you have been waiting so impatiently for this post and I really don't know why I've taken so long to publish it!
This is almost my most long winded skincare routine and I do not do this every day, most days I will cleanse with a Neutrogena Exfoliating Scrub and Shu Uemura Purifying Oil, then add eye cream and face moisturiser (nothing too fancy)... but the following routine is more of a pamper session and what I do maybe 3 times a week max.
I will guide you through a step by step of what I use during my thorough skincare routine.
1) CLEANSER
2) TONER
Since I was around 12-13 years old my mum had already got me into a routine of using CLEANSER, TONER, MOISTURISER, so it has always been in my system... However, when I was in my late teens, I got so lazy and would probably only cleanse then moisturise... I have always cleansed because I always leave a cleanser or an exfoliator in the shower/bath tub, so it's something I will never forget to do, but forgetting to moisturise feels like such a crime now!
So I use this toner with a cotton pad, I just use the Boots Oval Pads, a squirt or 2 of the toner on them and dab it all over my face.
3) SERUM
Now these 2 Sampar products can go hand in hand, it even says on the back that you can mix the serum with the eye cream to make an even more concentrated eye cream. However, what I tend to do is use the eye cream on the eyes then the serum all over the face, concentrating more on the top of my cheekbones.
I leave this on for around 10-15 minutes just to let it absorb so I might just go off to do some laundry or cook dinner etc whilst this stuff works it's magic.
4) FACE MASK
Sometimes, I don't necessarily do this step within this skincare routine, but it is one of the easiest parts and if you are thinking of treating yourself to a home pamper session, then why not!
I like to use these MY BEAUTY DIARY Sheet Masks, they're affordable, but hard to get hold of in the UK, I usually stock up when I go to Hong Kong.
I also use a gel mask from Swiss Perfection, but it gets messy and you have to wash it off afterwards, so yeah, lazy me again.
What is good about sheet masks is that, you use them on your face for around 15 minutes and then you can take it off and actually use it as a serum/moisturiser for the rest of your body.
5) MOISTURISER
So after the face mask, I still like to add my moisturiser on top, but this may not necessarily happen during the routine, it may even be just before I get into bed.
I always apply some eye cream before I go to bed, just in hope those wrinkles around the eye won't appear any time soon.
Eye cream before moisturiser for me, but that's just my own preference.
Then some lip balm and hand cream and I'm FINALLY ready for bed.
Some of you must be quite gobsmacked by the amount of products I use for my skincare routine, but this isn't my daily routine.
I think my routine has become more loaded recently as I've started to become aware of what may happen to my skin.
There are so many things that are bad for the skin, medication, lack of sleep, late nights, lack of fluids, THE SUN, tobacco, alcohol, stress... FRIED FOOD, some of these things are things we may not be able to avoid but of course we can help to lessen the exposure of our bodies to these bad things and look after ourselves more.
I hope you all find a routine that works for you! And make your other half do it too, then you won't feel so crazy when you're pampering yourself!
