WHAT'S IN MY BAG? | THE BEACH EDITION

By 16:50 , , , , , , , , , , , ,

As I'm a mummy, there is NO way I am bringing such a small bag to the beach... So, this is just what may be inside my handbag - which is also, conveniently "waterproof" and "sand-proof".

So here goes : WHAT'S IN MY BAG? | THE BEACH EDITION

BEACHWEAR : BIKINI | FLIP FLOPS | SUNGLASSES

To be honest, I would most probably have these items on already before I'm actually at the beach, so these probably wouldn't end up being in my bag.

Having said that, these would definitely be 3 of the most important items to bring to the beach.

TRIANGL | POPPY (PEACH SODA)

This bikini is made out of neoprene (a bit like wetsuit material), which means it doesn't go out of shape. It is a structured bikini which helps to keep everything in place. If you're a girl and you've worn a bikini before, I'm sure you know how annoying it is when water collects in the bra bit of your bikini and you feel exposed, without it even falling off... Well, Triangl's bikinis will not let this happen.

Another good thing about these bikinis, you can match a different sized top to a different sized bottom... I think this idea should be introduced to ALL bikini brands...

BEACH ATHLETICS | ST TROPEZ (PINK)

These flip flops are a current favourite of mine, although I still cannot part with my trusty Havaianas...

Beach Athletics has designed these gel flip flops for comfort and I guess, style. I especially love these as they are pink, and a very, very bright pink.

The pink part of the flip flop is a gel-like material which makes it feel a lot softer on the feet, they don't rub or have friction like the more conventional flip flops. They are made this way to prevent getting blisters, less rubbing + less friction = less blisters (not that I have ever gotten blisters from flip flops).

For now, my favourite flip flops are definitely FitFlops, Havaianas and these Beach Athletics.

Price-wise, FitFlops are the top of the range flip flops as they cost quite a bit, Havaianas are affordable for me as I can fit into the kids sizes and the Beach Athletics? They're £20 on the main website and I also saw them in Office last week for £20 too!

Comfort-wise, these definitely win over Havaianas, mainly because of the memory gel type material. Is a squishy-ish feeling and not to forget, they are definitely waterproof which makes them PERFECT for the beach!

They come in many different colours, so if you're not a fan of pink, you can choose from any colour of the rainbow and more! There are so many choice (even choices for men) and there are many combinations of colours, so it doesn't necessarily mean you'll end up having to choose a base colour with ONLY white.

Definitely a must have for my beach bag.

CHANEL | PRESTIGE COLLECTION (SQUARE GALUCHAT)

Now this pair of sunglasses is pretty much with me 24/7, so I don't just carry them with me to the beach.

If there is the smallest amount of sun, I have to put these on, whether I'm driving or shopping, or even from the car to the supermarket.

I've had these for a few years now and I know these are going to be a staple item in my wardrobe for as long as they last.

I decided on getting a pair of more classic Chanel's, rather than go with a certain style I liked at the time, because these will still be "in fashion" in 20 years to come for example.

Sometimes, I will throw a pair of Primark sunnies in the bottom of my bag, because if they do break, I won't be so heartbroken. These are expensive and I can't deny that, so I thank my husband for getting such a perfect gift for me, maybe it was to reward me for being such a "perfect wife". I actually never expected to receive a pair as a gift so early, I thought I'd have to wait for another 10 years at least! So, I look after these like they're a pet, they get treated so well and if they're not on my eyes, they're in the case.

REFRESH AND HYDRATE

JUICE BURST | APPLE
EXTRA PROFESSIONAL | PEACH
Two things I definitely have with me at all times, a drink and mints.

"Refresh and Hydrate"

I don't have all that much to say about these 2 items, there's no emotional story behind them.

I get thirsty and I'm scared my breath smells?

The mints are the most amazing mints I've had, it's a shame I can't get them in the UK, other than on Amazon...

The mother in me is kicking in again.

Wet wipes, I always need wet wipes, for dirty fingers, snotty noses, messed up make up, sweat, anything.

There's always an ice cream opportunity at the beach, and with a 3 year old, you can never have enough wet wipes or tissues.

I also like to use them to clean up my face after being in the sea, and maybe wiping off sticky sun screen.

So, these are definitely part of my "Refresh and Hydrate" regime.

SKINCARE & MAKE UP

AVÈNE | HYDRANCE OPTIMALE - PROTECTIVE HYDRATING CREAM W/SPF15
RODIAL | STEMCELL SUPER-FOOD GLAM BALM MULTI

After being in the sea and the sun, my skin gets so dry and dehydrated, so I have to have something with me to rehydrate my skin.

The Avène hydrating cream is a perfect option for being in the sun, it has SPF 15 which means there's still a little bit of protection before you redo your make up etc. Obviously, this is not the only sunscreen I'll bring with me, I'll have one for the body and a whole bottle for my 3 year old, I'm armed with sun protection! The cream is just to make sure my skin doesn't peel as easily.

The Rodial Glam Balm is a small tube of goodness. I really can't fault any of Rodial's products. This balm is a multi-use balm. You can use it as a lip balm, a moisturiser for your face (mind you it is a little sticky), as a hand cream or a moisturiser for your body. One little tube for SO many uses, so it is perfect to just fling in your bag or make up bag.

I bring minimal make up to the beach, normally I would just have a compact foundation, however, this summer I have been LOVING The Sensual Skin Tinted Balm by Kevyn Aucoin. It isn't a foundation so it doesn't do so well covering up blemishes, but has moisturising properties which are perfect after being under the sun and maybe after having sea water splashed on my face.

The Babydoll Kiss & Blush by YSL comes in handy too as it isn't just a lip tint, it's also a blush, 2-in-1's always do it for me, it just means I can carry a lot less.

So these are the kinds of things I would pack in my own handbag when going to the beach, let me know what I might find in your beach bag!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer, especially those of you who are going on lovely holidays!
