HOW TO : TEETH WHITENING - VITA COCO COCONUT OIL
I've always loved coconut oil and even more so now that I have found the Vita Coco Coconut Oil!
|VITA COCO COCONUT OIL|
I'm so happy that they've realised their own coconut oil because I've always been a huge fan of their Coconut Waters.
You must have read that coconut oil has so many health and beauty benefits and it can be used in so many ways, but if you don't know, I'm going to tell you briefly now!
Replacement for Butter
Hair Frizz Fighter
Body Oil & Moisturiser
Make Up Remover
Hand Cream/Oil & Cuticle Softener
Under Eye Cream
Oil Pulling / Teeth Whitener
As you can see in the list above, it can pretty much be used for anything!
As it is such a natural product, it is perfect to add into your cooking, or maybe just a spoonful of it mixed into your early morning tea or coffee as an energy booster for the day.
However, I didn't buy it to consume it, I purely use it for beauty purposes.
|CREST 3D WHITESTRIPS|
The main reason I bought it was for the teeth whitening usage, normally I use Crest Whitening Strips, but as I am now pregnant, I try my best to stay away from chemical and toxic things.
So, the Whitening Strips have been packed away, as they cannot be good for the baby.
So Vita Coco's Coconut Oil is my replacement for now.
COCONUT OIL PULLING (TEETH WHITENING)
The way to whiten your teeth with coconut oil is - oil pulling.
You basically use it in the same way you would with a drugstore mouthwash.
The coconut oil is a solid but can easily be warmed up in your hands (if you were to use it as a moisturiser for example), or in this case, it will slowly melt in your mouth.
It doesn't taste too bad and no it is not a super strong coconut flavoured oil, it's actually quite subtle, and definitely does not taste of "oil".
- Take a spoonful of the coconut oil
- Place it into your mouth
- As it melts, swish it around your mouth (like a mouthwash), try pulling it in between your teeth for about 10-20 minutes (not as vigourously as a mouthwash as your jaw will start to ache)
- Spit it all out in the bin or the toilet - REMEMBER : DO NOT spit it out into the sink as it could clog up the drain
- Brush your teeth
- You're ready to go!
Once the coconut oil starts to melt, you'll find that you gather more and more liquid as you go, because the oil helps the production of saliva. It also helps to kill bacteria and kill the toxins within your mouth, from your tongue and your gums.
Coconut Oil will eventually help to whiten your teeth naturally, after using it religiously of course and it can also help to kill bad breath! It's not going to have the same effect as whitening strips or gel, as they seem to give you results as soon as you've used them because they pretty much strip your teeth. Coconut Oil helps to reduce the build up of bacteria, decay and all that dirty stuff in your mouth.
I've been Coconut Oil pulling for about a month now and I'm going to continue until I've had my baby, just because I have found my mouth feels fresher, my teeth haven't got any yellower and I actually love the taste of it.
Have you tried oil pulling yet? If you haven't, I definitely recommend it! And of course, the tub won't go to waste as there are SO many more uses for it.
I'm going to go and drench my hair in coconut oil now as a hair mask whilst I type up my next blog post.
